The wave model

Waves are everywhere in our universe. We often think about water waves as the main example, however, light, sound and earthquakes are all wave forms.

The definition of waves at the start of the Crash Course Physics Traveling waves video is a good place to start.

Often, when something about the physical world changes, the information about that disturbance gradually moves outward, away from the source, in every direction.
Lets unpick that definition.
      "something .... changes"
A rock is thrown into a pond
          Your 'voice box' vibrates
          An electric field is disturbed
      "the information ..."
Size of the rock, speed of the rock on impact
Size and shape of movement of your voice box
          Frequency of the disturbance
      "outward .. every direction"
waves ripple outward from the rock's impact
Sound is heard by everyne around the room
yellow light from the sun travels to Earth
